Applications for the Fall 2021 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge are closed! We’ve run out of horses in each division and are working out our final assignments. If you applied and haven’t heard from Stacy yet, you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to check on your application. We’ll start taking applications for the Spring 2022 Challenge here soon. Thank you to everyone who is competing and those who were interested but didn’t get to compete this time around. Because of you all, a lot of horses are getting help! AND in the meantime, we can still use more foster homes at Bluebonnet. If we have more foster homes, we can take in more horses, and we can put more horses into future Challenges. You can apply to be a foster on our website! (If you applied to compete and were approved, you are automatically also approved to foster – just send us an email to let us know you are interested in fostering).
The Challenge is a competition in which professional trainers start a Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society rescue horse under saddle or restart a horse with behavioral problems while amateurs/non-pros either work with a horse who has already been started under saddle or work with a horse in hand. This year’s Challenge will have up to $10,000 in prize money and will take place in Taylor, Texas. Horse pick-up is June 1-15 and the competition is on October 16.
There is a $10 registration fee for all trainers to help with some of the administrative expenses associated with the event.
